About the band

The band They Might Be Dogs emerged in 2022 from the two-man project “2 the People” by Stefan Niedermeier and Christian Kurtz, which initially focused mainly on cover songs. After several lineup changes, the current formation finally took shape.
The band’s present sound is strongly shaped by keyboardist and film composer Dominik Schuster, complemented by vocalist Christian Jakobi, who joined most recently. With the album The Laydown Road Recordings, the band releases a ten-track catalogue of previously written material.
Spanning nearly 80 minutes, the album clears the way for a creative new beginning and marks the transition toward new songs being created for the first time in this lineup.
The album was recorded, mixed, and produced entirely independently at Loftroom13 Studios in Ludwigshafen, Germany. Work on the album began with the recording of initial pilot tracks in mid 2023 and continued through to its anticipated release in early February 2026.
